Harvest season is well upon us

By Taylor Herren, Farm Program Specialist

Excerpt from ‘The Dirt’: SCI’s Monthly Farmer Newsletter

Harvest season is well upon most of us, which means equipment is rolling and things are busy.

When the yield monitor starts running the rubber meets the road. Countless hours, decisions, and resources all leading up to then.

Sometimes harvest is experiencing the fruits of your labor. Other times it’s experiencing the relentlessness of farming and mother nature.

Many of you have been affected by drought, hale and other setbacks that made it hard to grow a good crop this year. And we know this is against the backdrop of low commodity prices and record level input costs. It’s hard to make a go at farming, good year or bad.

The team at SCI is committed to doing whatever we can to tilt the scale back towards farmers. You know better than us how hard this really is – to grow your margins, to create new contract opportunities, and to farm differently than the status quo. Change is slow and the wins are small and incremental, but we’ll keep working on your behalf one day at a time.

We’re proud to know you and committed to supporting farmers like you.

Reminder to all SCI farmers: Our monthly Farm Office Hours will take place every last Thursday of the month at 4pm ET.
